Caring for your art

Shipping & Transport
Rely on experts when shipping your art - preferably those with experience dealing with original art.

Placement

Avoid the following when hanging original art:
- High traffic areas  - Excess smoke  - Vents
Do not hang original art in bathrooms or kitchens.

About Sunlight

Direct sunlight is extremely harmful to most art. It should be avoided at all costs. If you must hang art in direct sunlight, close your window shades whenever possible.

Temperature & Humidity

The ideal temperature is 72 degrees. The ideal humidity is 60%. Although it is diffucult to maintain these variables, make every attempt to avoid extremes.

Cleaning
Aside from an occasional light dusting, never try to clean an original oil painting. Leave it to the professionals. The proper cleaning of a painting or drawing is an extremely delicate operation – one which most artists won’t even attempt on their own

Storage

Follow all the above guidelines when storing art. Be especially careful to store art off the floor to avoid flood damage.
